Material recycling of agricultural films

In addition to silage films including the associated underlay films, all other agricultural films, such as asparagus and dam films, can in principle also be processed, provided the films are made of the synthetic material LDPE (low-density polyethylene). The regranulates produced from the old films are reused for the production of new films, among other things.

The recycling of used agricultural films takes place in Germany's only agricultural film recycling plant in the process stages of sorting, shredding, washing, separating, drying and extruding. To test the quality of the regranulates produced, a film blowing extruder in laboratory format is used, among other things. The sample films produced in this way are tested for specks and tear strength, among other things.
